CARLIE HAGEN

Carlie Hagen, 96, of McNeil, AR passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her residence. She was born on September 12, 1922 in Chico, CA to the late Emil Bernard and Avis Josephine (Smith) Frizzie.

Carlie and her husband, Leon (now deceased) moved to McNeil in January 1972, to be closer to Leon’s elderly parents who resided in Magnolia. Carlie is best known for her love of animals and ran the annual petting zoo at fair time for over 25 years. She was instrumental in working with Mike Kinard to start the McNeil Rural Water District from concept to reality. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Magnolia.

Carlie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leon Hagen; and son Chris Hagen. She is survived by her son Mike Hagen of Jacksonville, AR; daughters Sharyn Ahlstrom of Magnolia, AR and Janis Keeley of Boring, OR; grandsons, Michael John Ahlstrom of Walnut Creek, CA and Adam Keeley of St. John, US Virgin Islands; granddaughters, Amy Plummer of Grand Forks, ND, Michelle Keeley of St. John, US Virgin Islands, Melissa Stiles of Tomball, TX, Lori Tanner of Cabot, AR, great grandchildren, Andrew and Abby Plummer, Fintan and Brinley Stiles, Kyla and Keslyn Groetzinger, Olivia Ahlstrom, and Mollie and Sarah Tanner.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
