Southern Arkansas’ Karonce Higgins was named the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week following a highly-productive Saturday evening in Weatherford, Okla.
The league made its football players of the week announcement on Monday morning following the third weekend of play in the 2018 season
A native of Searcy, Higgins claimed the honor after recording 13 receptions for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns in SAU’s 32-16 road win over Southwestern Oklahoma State.
He finished the contest one reception and 10 yards shy of tying the single-game program records in each category.
Additionally, the redshirt-senior speedster became the fourth Mulerider wide out to log a 200-plus yard receiving performance.
Through three games, Higgins has tallied 420 yards receiving which stands as the top mark in Division II football.
He also ranks second nationally in receiving yards per game (140.0), seventh in receptions per game (8.0) and eighth in receiving touchdowns (4).
