Magnolia’s defense returns next week

After giving up an average of 33.2 points per game last season, the Panther defense has allowed an average of 7.3 points through three games. Magnolia gave up 88 points during the first three games of 2017 and has yielded only 23 points so far, which included a shutout. In the top photo, Stephon O’Guinn (55), Demarco Walker (25) and another Panther clamp down on Monticello’s Jordan Ollison. At the bottom left, Korey Fulton (22) and Malachi Copeland (43) crunch a running back. At the bottom right, Octavius Smith (2) is in excellent position during a pass play down field, while Shawn Bell (33) was coming to help out. The Panthers are off tonight and will open 5A-South Conference action next week. The Magnolia defense will have its biggest challenge of the season so far when it host the Class 5A fifth-ranked Arkansas High Razorbacks. A standing-room only crowd is expected at Panther Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m.
