National Law Enforcement Museum features Arkansas sheriff

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — An Arkansas sheriff who caught the men responsible for the 2010 slaying of two police officers is featured in the new National Law Enforcement Museum that’s opening this weekend in Washington, D.C.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that the story of Monroe County Sheriff Michael Neal is exhibited in the $100 million museum, which will open to the public on Saturday.

Visitors can walk past a bullet-riddled Arkansas Game and Fish Commission truck. Neal was a commission officer when he used the vehicle to stop two men who had fatally shot two West Memphis police officers.

National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund CEO Craig Floyd says the truck is evidence of “law enforcement’s willingness to put themselves at risk for the safety and protection of others.”
