Dorwin Young, 90, of Emerson died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia.
Dorwin was born January 24, 1928 in Brister to the late George and Ivy (Wallis) Young. He was a member of the North Acres Baptist Church and was retired from Parker Drilling Company. He loved his family, taking countryside drives, visiting with friends, and tinkering in his shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 32 years Della Mae; second wife of 23 years, Joyce Young; brother Norwin Young; and sister Virgia Eads.
Dorwin is survived by his son Michael R. Young of Emerson; grandson Michael R. Young Jr. of Garland, Texas; granddaughter Bridget Bass and husband Jim Bennett of Dallas, Texas; great grandchildren Johnathon Bass of Dallas, Texas, Megan Beaty and husband Ryan of Lawton, Okla.; Cameron Bennett and Macey Bennett of Dallas, Texas, and Hannah Short of Paris, Texas; great-great-grandchildren Julissa Adeline Bass of Dallas, Texas, and Noah Christopher Beaty of Lawton, Okla.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia. Funeral services were Monday, October 8, at 10 a.m. at Lewis Chapel with Dr. Eric Goble officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnathon Bass, Bobby Nunley, Gerald Yates, Charles Yates, Randy Baxter, and Clay Baxter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bennett, Cameron Bennett and Ryan Beaty.
