Sau Tech awarded continuation grant from ADHE

Southern Arkansas University Tech was awarded $999,999 in funding from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education as part of the Arkansas Workforce Initiative that started in 2015 with the award of planning grants to develop comprehensive workforce training pathways in higher education. SAU Tech’s project is for the development of aerospace defense advanced manufacturing pathways. The funding has enabled the College to make upgrades to learning spaces, purchase advanced manufacturing training equipment, pay faculty for training programs, and more. The College is now in the third phase (continuation) of the grant project having successfully completed the initial planning and implementation phases.

Dr. Jason Morrison, SAU Tech Chancellor, stated that, ” The Arkansas Workforce Initiative Grants have really helped the College create a pathway from high school to college to work for students who are interested in working in the advanced manufacturing field. The continuation phase of the grant will enable us to finish up the process we started and deliver training both to already employed workers and to our students.”

The Arkansas Workforce Initiative total award from ADHE to SAU Tech from 2015 to 2020 is $1,942,169. For more information on workforce training or enrolling in an advanced manufacturing program, call 870-574-4500.
