BERT TODD

James Albert “Bert” Todd III, 65, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at home in DeSoto, Texas, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Bert was born on August 1, 1952, in Waco, Texas, to Jim and Reba Todd. He graduated from Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Ark., and earned both a Bachelor of Science and Masters in Education from Northwestern State University. Bert taught middle school math for 28 years. After retiring from education, Bert owned and operated Praise the Lord (PTL) Specialized Cleaning.

Bert is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Jean Martin Todd; two daughters, Whitney Todd Liles and husband Ryan, and Kelsey Todd; granddaughter, Victoria Liles; sister, Janet Todd Ward; and mother, Mrs. James “Reba” Todd Jr. of Magnolia.

Bert was an Eagle Scout and played tennis in college. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, bicycling and camping. Bert loved his family dearly and was a kind, gentle man who was known by all throughout his life for his selfless service to others. Even more importantly, Bert was a Christian, devoted to Jesus and living a life pleasing to Him.

A memorial service will be held at Midlothian Bible Church in Midlothian, Texas, where Bert was a faithful member, on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Family visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m. After the service a luncheon will be hosted at the church. Please wear bright colors to joyfully celebrate Bert’s life and legacy. Psalm 116:15: Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His godly ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to e3 PARTNERS, a mission organization supported by Bert, at e3partners.org/jt.
