We wish all of our Banner-News readers a most enjoyable and safe Thanksgiving Day holiday.

With the turmoil in today’s world it helps us to pause during this holiday observance to reflect and indeed be grateful for the wonderful blessings that have been and continue to bestowed upon on us here in Magnolia and Columbia County.

As we witness the daily contentiousness in our national government and the seemingly growing divisiveness, we can be thankful for the stabiity and dependability of our local government and community.

While we continue to struggle financially, it is evident, as reflected in recent artices in the Banner-News, that residents here care about one another, whether family, friends or strangers, and we work as groups and invididuals to provide for those less fortunate.

And, although our day-to-day struggles might seem daunting, they are nothing compared to the people who settled this country with persevering spirits that overcame challenges and hardships that today we can only imagine.

We thank God as we enjoy this holiday and we are thankful for those who worked so hard to be able to not only celebrate the first Thanksgiving, but to have even survived.

As we take comfort in the company of our families and friends, we thank you Lord for your many blessings in our lives. We pray for those who are suffering or struggling. We pray for forgiveness for our sins, shortcomings and weaknesses and for knowledge of your will for us and the power, wisdom and courage to carry out Thy will.
