Ocie Vera Hawkins, 78, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Emerson, died Friday, March 17, 2017, in Dallas.
She was born Feb. 2, 1959, to Ocie and Oliva Critten Biddle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Hawkins; one brother, James E. Biddle; four sisters, Faye E. McFadden, Ivory N. Glover, Charles R. Blanks, and Marvine Nunley.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Hawkins of Dallas; four sons, Henry Hawkins, Lonnie Hawkins Jr., David Hawkins, and Brian Hawkins, all of Dallas; one grandson she raised as her son; one brother, Sterline Biddle of Magnolia; three sisters, Avelee Gilbert of Muskegon, Mich., Laters Faye Rhone of Magnolia, and Bobbie Nell Gibson of Chicago, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, at Christian Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, with Rev. Reginald Edmonson officiating. Interment followed in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Dallas, under the direction of Marks Funeral Home, Inc., of Magnolia.
