The Southern Arkansas University athletic department has announced that it will host their fourth-annual Mulerider Club Kickoff event on Tuesday, August 8 starting at 6 p.m. out at the Magnolia Country Club.

This event, which is sponsored by the Mulerider Club, will serve as the official start to the 2017-18 athletic year at SAU and will feature a meet-and-greet session with various members of the SAU athletic department and Mulerider Club Advisory Board members as well as a sit-down supper catered by the Magnolia Country Club.

“Preparing for our Mulerider Club Kickoff event is always exciting because it means that we are getting closer and closer to a new athletic year,” remarked SAU Director of Athletics Steve Browning. “This has been a great way to generate some excitement for our coaches, our teams, and our fans for the year to come in Mulerider Athletics after the summer months away from competition.”

“Mulerider Athletics continues to grow and improve each year and our Mulerider Club members are a big reason for that” added Browning. “This past year, we posted our highest finish in the Great American Conference All-Sports Trophy standings by placing third, and our goal is to keep making strides towards bringing that trophy to Magnolia! Because of that, we are excited to have our Mulerider Club Kickoff event to spark the momentum for 2017-18!”

Shortly after the meal, those in attendance will have the chance to hear from the head coaches of the fall sports at SAU with football coach Bill Keopple, volleyball coach Britney Davis, and m/w cross country coach Tim Servis all speaking on behalf of their programs and in advance of their seasons.

Additionally, Jeff Harrington will be officially introduced as the new Mulerider Club Advisory Board Chair.

The cost of the event is $15 per person and tickets can only be purchased in advance.

For tickets please contact athletic department secretary Lynn Disotell at 235-4102 or by email at: [email protected]. Advanced tickets may also be purchased from Mulerider Club Advisory Board members.

The Mulerider Club is the fundraising arm of the SAU athletic department, and its members help contribute to the current and future success of Mulerider Athletics through their private investments and participation at athletic events.

Through the contributions of its members, the Mulerider Club services the SAU athletic department by helping to provide funding for athletic scholarships, athletic facility enhancements, and helping SAU athletics achieve its overall mission of assisting student-athletes as they succeed on and off the playing field or court.
