SAU students to present 'Our Town'

Thirty Southern Arkansas University students are set to perform in the upcoming play “Our Town” written by Thornton Wilder.

Students from this area include:

•Joseph Kaar of Magnolia. Kaar is a freshman musical theatre major. He will perform as Constable Warren and a dead man.

•Catherine Marlett of Magnolia. Marlett is a senior musical theatre major. She will be the house manager.

•Joann Shaver of Magnolia. Shaver is a junior theatre major. She will be the production stage manager.

•Lainey Walthall of Magnolia. Walthall is a senior musical theatre major. She will be part of the wardrobe crew.

“Our Town” is a three-act play that revolves around a small fictional town called Grover’s Corners. The play tells the everyday life stories of its citizens from the beginning of 1901 to 1913.

“Our Town” is the first of a series of productions presented for SAU’s 2016-2017 Main Stage Theatre Season. The show will run at 7 p.m. nightly from Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 6-8, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. There will be an actor talk back session after the play on Oct. 8.

Following “Our Town” is “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” showing Nov. 17-20; “Dial M for Murder” on Feb. 9-11, 2017; and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” April 20-23, 2017.
