Diary for Friday

Reader submits the following via fax: “After reading about the latest homicides of the two young men here in Magnolia, I want to know if our college students have to die to get the attention needed to protect them. My granddaughter, a college student, was jumped by four women in this community while attending a party. And she wasn’t doing anything to deserve this, just went to a party. We have gone to the police and court system and there has yet to be anything done about it. Maybe if these problems were addressed in a timely manner, there would be no shootings. Or must our college children simply stay in their dorm rooms? This is a college town, where is the protection for our youth?”
