SAU’s Marx, Rich record top 20 finishes in first-ever women’s Arkansas Collegiate

EL DORADO - Southern Arkansas' Aubrey Marx and Taylor Rich each landed inside the field's top 20 in the first-ever women's Arkansas Collegiate from the par-72, 5,810-yard course at Mystic Creek Golf Club. Southern Arkansas improved on its round one 346 with a final 18 of 337 to finish in fifth place in the program's first hosted event since 2016.

Marx shot an 81 in her first trip around the course and added an 83 on Tuesday to shoot 164 and finish just ten strokes back of the individual champion, Harding's Brenda Sanchez, in a tie for 12th. She was one of only three players to shoot one-under in par-5 scoring. Marx delivered four of SAU's 11 birdies in the 36-hole action and added a dozen made pars.

Rich finished four strokes back of Marx with a 168 after posting 83-85 over her two rounds of action to place in a tie for 16th. Rich led SAU in par-3 scoring at +2. Rich recorded two birdies and made par 13 times.

Emma Hester dropped a single stroke from her Monday 87 to finish tied for 25th with a two-round total of 173. Hester's +15 in par-4 scoring paced the squad and she trailed Marx in birdies with three to go along with 14 made pars.

Taylor-Rose Hubbard placed 30th after shaving a dozen strokes from a round one 95 to match Marx's Tuesday score of 83. Hubbard added 14 pars and two birdies to her scorecard.

Kelsey Saveall finished 37th with a 204 and six made pars. Golfing as an individual, Aurea Carlisle placed tied for 28th with a two-round result of 85-92 which included a team-best 16 made pars and a pair of birdies.

SAU prepares for its final 36-hole action before the GAC Championship. The Lady Muleriders will compete again on April 8-9 at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, MO, in a tournament hosted by Arkansas Tech.
