Logoly State Park is hosting three events in April including a Trash pickup, Dutch Oven Workshop[ and Bio Blitz

Trash Pickup

Logoly State Park will host a trash pickup and park beautification event as part of the Great American Cleanup in Arkansas on Saturday, April 13. The event is from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the park, which is located at 131 Columbia Rd. 459, Magnolia. We will be weeding, planting and doing spring garden maintenance in the park's planted areas, as well as litter pickup around the park. This event is part of a statewide program co-sponsored and presented by Keep Arkansas Beautiful. Volunteers will meet at the visitor center at 8:30 a.m. to get supplies, an assigned area to work and a free t-shirt (supply is limited). Admission is free.

Dutch Oven Workshop

Learn a new skill and eat some great food during the Dutch Oven Workshop on April 20 at Logoly State Park. The workshop starts at 10:30 a.m. Participants will work together to prepare and cook a Dutch oven meal and then eat what they prepare. There is a $60 fee and registration is required. The fee covers food for two people plus a Dutch oven to take home. Participants must register by April 12.

Logoly State Park is hosting a bio blitz starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. The event is at the park, 131 Columbia Rd. 459, Magnolia. Volunteers will meet at the visitor center. A bio blitz is a collaborative effort to discover and catalog as many species of plants, animals and fungi as possible within a specific area and over a defined period of time, usually 24 hours. This event will focus on classifying plant and animal life visible from the walking trail along the Crane's Fly and Spring Branch trails. Knowing the diversity of plants and animals around Logoly State Park will help park staff better manage park resources and provide better information to guests.

Volunteers should wear appropriate clothing for hiking on uneven terrain. A camera or smartphone would be helpful for recording observations but is not required to participate. The park will provide visitors with pens and a data collection sheet. There will also be opportunities to participate on your own or with park staff. Check-in at the visitor center for more information on self-guided bio blitz efforts.
