SAU 12th at NSU Women’s Golf Classic

BROKEN ARROW, OK - Sophomore Emma Hester led Southern Arkansas over 36 holes at the 24th NSU Women's Golf Classic as the Lady Muleriders placed 12th out of 15 teams.

SAU improved their Monday score of 332 by eight strokes on Tuesday to finish with a two-round total of 656.

Hester opened action with a round one 77 and then dropped a pair of strokes to fire a 75 on Tuesday. She delivered three birdies during her first trip around the course and followed up with a single birdie in round two. She totaled 21 pars with 13 coming in the final round.

Senior Taylor Rich recorded rounds of 81 and 85 to place inside the field's top 65. She made a pair of birdies, one in each round, and totaled 15 made pars of which ten were cupped in the first 18.

Junior Aurea Carlisle followed Rich with a 168 overall which included an 81 on Tuesday following a six-stroke improvement from Monday's action. Carlisle produced nine pars and a birdie in round two to highlight the team's top mover on Tuesday.

Sophomore Aubrey Marx marked a four-stroke improvement on Tuesday shooting an 83 behind a ten-par round. Junior Kelsey Saveall bettered her 89 on Monday by two shots behind a final round that included six pars and a birdie.

Three of four Muleriders that tripled bogeyed on Monday did not see black on their Tuesday scorecard.

Southern Arkansas returns to competition Oct. 2 at the Grace Shin Invitational hosted by Central Oklahoma.
