Magnolia battles Star City, Parkers Chapel in tennis

The Magnolia Panthers defeated Star City 3-1 in tennis action Monday, while the Lady Panthers tied the Lady Bulldogs 2-2.

In boys' singles, Landry Carter lost his match 3-8 and Aryan Simmons feel 6-7 (6-8). Judah Ray won his match by a score of 8-3. The Panthers won their three matches in doubles play.

They included Isaac Ray and Carter Chambliss (8-0), Simmons/Roderguiz 8-2 and Ray/Carter 6-1.

In girls' singles, Lillian Willis defeated Presly Story 8-0; Ann Owen got past Tyler Wheeler 8-4; A Del Angel lost 4-6 to Jumbee Hogue; and J. Dunn lost 4-6 to Katie Tombo. In doubles, Willis and Owen won their match 8-1.

In earlier action against Parkers Chapel, the Panthers won 5-4 and Lady Panthers fell by a score of 2-5.

In boys' singles, winners were Ray (8-1), Simmons (8-2) and Chambliss (6-4). In doubles, Chambliss/I. Ray won 9-7, while Carter/J. Ray picked up a 6-2 victory.

In girls' singles, winners were Willis (7-8 (8-6) and Owen (8-5). The Lady Panthers dropped both double matches.
