Main Street El Dorado and Roseburg El Dorado MDF joyfully invites everyone to revel in the magic of Christmas as they gear up to transform Downtown El Dorado into a wonderland for the festive season. With Executive Director Beth Brumley at the helm, the theme, "Oh What Fun it is to Shop, Dine, Stay, and Play in Downtown!" embodies the spirit of the season and the vibrancy of the local community. Downtown El Dorado has long been revered as the go-to place for enchanting Christmas experiences, and this year is no different.
The heart of downtown, decked out with Christmas lights, will be further aglow with an exciting lineup of events and shopping extravaganzas, showcasing over 30 independently owned and operated retail outlets. Opening hours vary, with select shops and eateries welcoming visitors even on Sundays, providing ample opportunities for a delightful shopping spree.
An Overview of the Festivities:
Downtown Holiday Open House (November 19): On Sunday, November 19, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Downtown merchants will open their doors for a delightful Christmas Open House. Experience the bustling energy as stores, restaurants, and venues offer special savings, sales, and seasonal treats. Keep an eye out for Santa, who will be making a special appearance this year for free photos. Horse-drawn carriage and Queen City Train rides are also free during Open House thanks to the generous support of Roseburg El Dorado MDF. Gourmet 2 Geaux will host Kat Robinson, author of The Great Arkansas Pie Book starting at 1p.m. for pie tastings, book sales and signing along with an author meet and greet. PJ's Coffee will host author Ann Marie Jameson from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. for a meet and greet opportunity.
Pre-Black Friday (November 23): A select group of downtown merchants will kick off Black Friday promotions on Thanksgiving evening. This pajama-themed extravaganza, popular over the years, offers exceptional savings and an early start to holiday shopping. Participating businesses will remain open from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Thursday.
Small Business Saturday (November 25): Join the movement on November 25 for Small Business Saturday®, a national campaign supported by American Express, dedicated to patronizing small businesses. It's a fantastic opportunity to support the heart of the community--local, independent retailers, restaurants, and business owners. Receive a free holiday gift tote from retail stores while supplies last.
Christmas Parade (December 7): Mark your calendars for December 7 as the El Dorado Christmas Parade dazzles its way through downtown El Dorado. Starting around 7 p.m. at the north end of North West Avenue, this grand procession promises a picturesque spectacle set against the downtown square.
Santa on the Square (December 9): Santa Claus himself graces downtown on December 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bring the kids, their wish lists, and your festive spirit. Capture cherished moments with Santa, indulge in free train rides and horse drawn carriage rides. New this year is Pancakes and pajamas with Santa from 8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. at Barefoot Bistro. Enjoy a hearty breakfast of pancakes, bacon and your choice of milk or orange juice. Other happenings: The Downtown Business Association will be sponsoring two opportunities for photos with Santa. On November 19th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 PM and on December 2 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 PM. Check the Downtown El Dorado and Main Street El Dorado Facebook pages for exact locations.
Horse-drawn Carriage rides will be available on weekends between Thanksgiving and New Years. Cost starts at $30 per couple, additional riders only $5.00 each.
