SAU uses Broom to sweep Oklahoma Baptist

Southern Arkansas wrapped up it weekend series with Oklahoma Baptist with a 14-12 win to complete the sweep and improve to 14-4 in conference play. The weekend victory represents their third sweep of the season and holds the Muleriders at second place in the Great American Conference.

During Saturday's doubleheader, SAU won by scores of 9-8 and 9-6. At 3 p.m. today, they will host Delta State in a nonconference battle at Goodheart Field.

In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, Chris Lyles earned Southern Arkansas the win with a walk off two-run home run. During the nightcap, Sutton went 3-4 with an RBI and Brett McGee went 1-3 with two RBI. Sutton joined Riley Orr, Connor Allen and Will Richardson in their multi-hit efforts. Both of Richardson's hits went for two bags to see all four of his hits on the day as doubles.

Against the Bison, Will Richardson concluded the weekend with a 1.364 slugging percentage, going 7-11 (0.636) with a single, five doubles and a home run. Lyles posted an equally impressive 1.308 slugging percentage on the weekend, batting 0.462 (6-13) with two singles, a triple and three home runs.
