Taylor High School is proud to announce that Michael Higgins, a seasoned archer in the 11th grade and member of the THS Archery Team, achieved a score of 289 out of a possible 300 points, making him the highest-scoring archer in the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission's Archery in the Schools (AIS) National Archery in the Schools Program (ANASP) Tournament High School Division.

"We are thrilled to congratulate Michael on this remarkable achievement," said Coach Dickie Hartsfield. "His dedication, talent, and hard work have paid off, he has been shooting for nine years, and we are proud to have him on our team."

Over 80 students participate in the Archery Program at Taylor.

Fifth grader Wilder Bragg earned second high individual in the elementary division out of 384 archers with a score of 276 out of 300. The Taylor Elementary Team placed third out of 34 teams.

In the middle school division, eighth graders Holland Stacks and Jack Rogers ranked second and fourth out of 445 competitors. The Taylor Middle School Team placed second out of 36 teams.

Michael Higgins and both the Taylor Elementary and Middle School teams earned bids to the 2023 NASP Western Nationals in Sandy, UT in April.

Archery is a great way to sharpen skills, build self-esteem, and create a stronger atmosphere for success in the classroom. Student archers learn archery skills, as well as an outdoor hobby they may enjoy for the rest of their lives.
