Arkansans Still Have Time to Volunteer During the Great Arkansas Cleanup

The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) announced today that there is still time to volunteer in its annual Great Arkansas Cleanup (GAC) event now through Oct. 31.

Since kicking off on Sept. 10, volunteer coordinators in 74 out 75 counties across the state have registered GAC cleanups, and thousands of community volunteers are picking up litter at these local cleanup events. KAB launches the Go Clean Challenge every year to encourage Arkansans in every county to register cleanups throughout the event.

"We are thrilled at all the participation we have received so far during our fall cleanup," said Robyn Taylor, volunteer program manager at KAB. "The work isn't over yet! We still have one county left to register, and we want to encourage every Arkansan to get involved and register a cleanup in their county before the Oct. 31 deadline."

The GAC is an annual statewide cleanup initiative that removes litter from our state's roadsides, public areas and parks. Litter removal helps maintain the natural beauty of the landscape and benefits wildlife health and air quality. Across the state, volunteers are encouraged to get involved in beautifying their local communities. In 2021, volunteers collected more than 219 tons of litter during the GAC. These efforts positively impact civic pride, livability, and economic growth – creating communities where people want to work, live and play.

Cleanup supplies, including disposable gloves, cotton gloves and fluorescent safety vests, are available through KAB. Planning tools and resources are available at http://bit.ly/KABClean.
