Gubernatorial candidate Chris Jones visits Magnolia for the Blossom Festival.

On May 20 at 6:30 p.m. Jones met with Magnolia citizens at Mulekick to discuss his campaign for governor and answer questions.

Jones who is running as a democrat discussed his plan for Arkansas.

His focus was on what he called "PB&J" preschool, broadband, and jobs.

Jones said he believes that all Arkansans deserve cheap and easy access to pre-school for kids, broadband, and deserve quality paying jobs.

He said that in many places throughout Arkansas, things are clumped up you may have a lot of peanut butter, or just jelly and a lot of dry bread.

Jones said it is his belief that everyone needs to come together and help each other.

He claims that many in politics are trying to pit everyone against each other for temporary gain when it hurts everyone long term.

Jones answered questions from the crowd.

One question Jones answered was what plans he has to help with housing inequality and insecurity.

He said that he would place Renter's Rights and minimum housing quality requirements in place to prevent dangerous housing conditions.

Jones also answered a question about what he plans to do to help with job discrimination and workers' rights.

"As a minister... it is ethically reprehensible to see your neighbor, and we are all neighbors, live in squalor and not help them. We have to help or neighbors through government procedures, community, and as individuals," said Jones.

Jones said that he believes that when decisions are made that everyone affected should be included in making decisions.

"Whenever we come together to make a decision we should consider who isn't at the table. We need to look at whoever has not been included in the past and invite them to the table," said Jones

Jones then took photos and spoke individually with Magnolians there including Shermar Easter who is running for school board and Councilman Steve Nipper.
