Magnolia, Panther Arena look to host Class 4A State Basketball Tourament

The Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) Site Selection Committe will meet this afternoon to consider bids from school districts interested in hosting 2022 regional and state events, including basketball.

The committee will meet in person and through Zoom at 2 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Little Rock. On Friday, the AAA Board of Directors meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the hotel, located at 925 S. University in Little Rock.

In basketball, Magnolia, Farmington and Blyethville have submitted bids to host the Class 4A State Tournament. De Queen and Nashville seek to hold the 4A South Region Tournament.

In Class 1A, which includes Emerson, Taylor, Bradley and Nevada, five schools have bidded to host the state tournament. They are Clarendon, Mark Tree, West Side/Greers Ferry, Wonderview/South and Conway County.

Emerson, Dermott and Mineral Springs are seeking to host the Class 1A-4 Regional Tournament.

In other sports, the following schools submitted bids:

Class 4A Baseball/Softball - State - Nashville and Brookland; Region - Nashville and Malvern.

Class 1A Baseball/Softball - State - Norfork, Mark Tree, Nemo Vista and Ouachita; Region - Taylor.

Class 4A Track & Field - No bid submitted.

Class 1A Track & Field - No bid submitted.

Overall Meet of Champs - Russellville.

Cross Country - Lake Hamilton.

Class 4A Volleyball - Shiloh Christian, Brookland; Finals at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs.
