Getarrius Burton, 22 of Waldo, has been arrested on several charges, including attempted capital murder.
Two weeks ago on Nov. 6, the Magnolia Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Jeanette Street in reference to a shot's fired call, according to a statement released by the MPD Thursday morning.
Upon arrival, officers learned that one person had been hit by the gun fire and was transported to Magnolia Regional Medical Center.
The news release said investigators from the MPD were called to the scene to start their investigation. It was then learned that the 22-year-old Burton had entered the residence and fired multiple shots, striking one victim.
A warrant was obtained for Burton and the U.S. Marshall Service located him in Louisiana. Burton was brought back to Columbia County where he had his first appearance hearing in court on Thursday, Nov. 18.
Burton is charged with attempted capital murder, terroristic act, aggravated residential burglary, possession of a firearm by a certain person and aggravated assault.
He is currently being held at the Columbia County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
