The GAC recently announced its coaches’ picks for all-conference selections for women’s basketball, and for the first time since 2015-16 and the third time in the GAC, the Lady Muleriders have two players amongst the honorees.

On the All-GAC Second Team is senior forward Kisi Young, while junior guard Ariana Guinn is an honorable mention.

This is the second All-GAC accolade for Young, having been named an honorable mention a year ago, while this is the first accolade of Guinn’s career as a Lady Mulerider.

Young was second on the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game, shooting 52.2 percent from the field. She also grabbed 5.8 rebounds per game, dished out 2.0 assists per game, and averaged a steal a game and 0.5 blocks per game.

The Magnolia native is second all-time in program history for field goal percentage, shooting 54.4 percent from the field in two years as a Lady Mulerider.

Guinn scored in double figures in nine of 14 contests this spring. The guard scored 11.3 points per game, including a career-high 21 against Henderson State on February 6th. She shot 41.7 percent from the field, 45.8 percent from three and 82.2 percent from the line.

Guinn is 10th all-time in school history with 184 made free throws and sixth in free throw percentage, shooting 75.7 percent from the charity stripe.

In the first round of the GAC Tournament on Monday, the Lady Muleriders held a one-point lead at Ouachita Baptist with 1.1 seconds remaining. OBU’s Eden Crow hit a jumper at the buzzer that ended SAU’s 2021 season.

It was a game that had 12 lead changes and 10 ties, with both teams shooting better than 52 percent from the field.

Diamond Morris (17 points) was one of five Lady Muleriders to score in double figures. Others included Kylie Warren (16), Young (12), Magnolia native Lillie Moore (12) and Kenzie Ezekiel (10).

The Lady Muleriders ended with a 4-10 overall record.
