A native of the Mount Vernon Community, Jane Hammond spent years researching and interviewing residents of the community to put together a 600 plus page volume. This collection of anecdotes and genealogies is a look back at the people, places and memories of Mount Vernon from the founding of the community’s first church in the 1800s to the flourishing Mount Vernon School of the 1920s, 30s and 40s, to the many families who lived there through the years and today.
