Chandler Allen Owen of Magnolia made the Dean’s list at Arkansas Tech University in the fall, 2020 semester.

Owen is one of the 1,959 Arkansas Tech students who achieved the distinction last semester and the only student from Columbia County who made the list.

“(My) plan is to graduate then teach somewhere in the state,” said Owen.

Owen is a Junior studying Keyboard-Vocal Music Education. He said that he would like to teach junior or senior high students, where he could teach as either a choir or band director. Owen plans to continue his education after he earns his undergraduate degree, stating that he intends to eventually earn his Doctorate’s and become a professor.

A student must achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher and complete at least 12 hours of college-level coursework to be named to the Dean’s List. Arkansas Tech had an enrollment of 10,866 students this year.
