From the Office of the Columbia County Sheriff:

"We have become aware that someone is using a local number calling citizens stating that they have a warrant for their arrest or their social security card was found at a crime scene, and the caller wants to verify what it is. Our office does not call to tell you about warrants except in specific cases, and our office also does not call you to tell you that your social security card was found. Please do not fall victim to these scams."
