The 2021 Great American Conference Golf Championships are scheduled for today and Tuesday at the Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs.

SAU ended regular season play at the 22nd annual NSU Golf Classic in Muskogee, OK, last week.

Senior Kade Johnson recorded his fourth career round at 67 or better to finish up a resumed round two and then followed that with an even round three score to shoot 207 (-6) and finish tied atop the leaderboard after 54 holes.

Johnson battled Roger State’s Luke Palmowski in a playoff that lasted two holes with the latter claiming the individual title.

As a team, the Muleriders beat No. 19 Washburn by five strokes, No. 37 Southwestern Oklahoma by a dozen strokes and No. 26 Missouri Western by 23 strokes.

SAU was edged by No. 45 Rogers State by a single stroke, No. 15 Henderson State by two strokes and tournament winner, Central Region No. 1 and the nation’s No. 7 Central Missouri by just six strokes.

Junior Roman Timmerman finished on the heels of Johnson at tied for third. Others competing were junior Garrett Davis, freshman Caleb Miller and senior Calum Graham.

In Springfield, MO, Lady Mulerider freshman Corynn McKinnie recorded eight pars and notched a birdie to finish tied for 59th with a 36-hole career-best 166 (+22).

The Lady Muleriders placed 15th with a team score of 684 (+108).

Others competing included sophomore Klarissa Villanueva, freshmen Taylor Rich and Elizabeth Townsend along with sophomores Chelsea Chowo and Mackenzy Turne.
