Magnolia head coach John Rich, with face mask on during practice last month, will take his 8th grade Cubs and freshmen Panthers to El Dorado tonight for their season openers. The 8th grade contest will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Magnolia freshmen Cubs are coming off an unbeaten season from a year ago, while the 8th graders suffered only two losses. After tonight, they will play their home openers next Thursday against Nashville, followed by a trip to Hope on Sept. 17. The remainder of the schedule includes playing at Texarkana Sept. 24; home against Hot Springs Lakeside Oct. 1; at Camden Fairview Oct. 8; home against Hot Springs Oct. 15; and the season-finale at home against De Queen on Oct. 29.
