Area driver dies after rainy wreck submerges truck

A Junction City man was killed Monday night after single-vehicle accident in Union County ended with a truck submerged in a ditch.

According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary crash summary, Rocky McDowell, 35, at 10:30 p.m. March 30, was navigating northwest through water as it ran over Morning Star Rd. in El Dorado when his 2001 Dodge Ram exited off the roadway to the right and overturned.

The truck, according to the report, came to a final stop as it was upside-down and submerged in a ditch near Greenbriar Rd. in El Dorado.

The road conditions were described as wet and the weather rainy, according to police.

The driver was taken to Medical Center of South Arkansas, then to the Union County Morgue, according to police.

Arkansas State Trooper Garett Brock was the investigating officer.
