HOWARD COPELAND

Howard Copeland, 79, of Waldo passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.

Howard was born September 24, 1940, in Ruston, La. to the late David and Gertrude (Butcher) Copeland. He retired as a Sergeant First Class after serving 22 years in the United States Army, he served 2 years as the Mayor of Waldo, and was the Water Superintendent for Waldo for 23 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Shirley Bailey, Daveline Childers, and Barbara Walthall. Howard is survived by his wife Pecola Copeland of Waldo, daughter Ann Copeland and husband Miguel Gomez of Miramar, FL, son Randy Copeland and wife Dee of Waldo, and sister Joan Young of Bryant.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Cemetery with Bro. Larry Linam officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Family and friends are welcome to come view and sign the register book on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scott McDonald, Buddy Watkins, Andy Jackson, A.J. Erwin, Brian Edington, and Kenneth Young.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
