MAGNOLIA — Erma Aldridge will celebrate 100 years of life on Friday, July 17, 2020. Aldridge said she does not have a secret to reaching such a milestone other than to just keep going. She is a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in the Mount Vernon Community. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing, there will not be a party for Aldridge but a parade will be held in her honor. Those interested are asked to gather at Mount Vernon Baptist Church about a mile and a half west of her home on Columbia County Road 54, in the parking lot around 6:45 p.m. The parade will start at 7 p.m. Everyone is free to decorate their vehicles appropriately with balloons, banners and/or signs. The parade will start at the church and proceed to her house, and drive around the circle drive. There will be a drop box provided for cards and well wishes. Family and friends hope as many as can will join the celebration.
