Wings of Wonder - February Youth Art Workshops. Times: K-3rd Grade — 3:30-4:40 p.m., 4th grade-Junior High — 4:30-5:30 p.m. Location: Studio 11 at 11 Cherrywood, Magnolia. Instructor: Patricia Leslie, fee is $40 (materials included). Annual Boys & Girls Club steak supper fundraiser. Tickets are $20 and available at Farmers Bank, Bodcaw Bank or by calling 234-3300 or 562-9243. Time will be from 5-6 p.m. and pick-up only at the B&GC parking lot.

United Community Organization’s African Heritage Extravaganza at 5 p.m. in Grand Hall of SAU Reynolds Center. Speaker is Dr. Stanley Ellis, founder of Sille Educational Consulting. Theme is “Stand up.” Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 904-5156.

The Magnolia Planning Commission will meet at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday in the City Council Chambers (located on N. Pine Street) at 5:30 p.m. Agenda: WDR - 1218 N. Dudney request variance to place mobile home in a R2 Zone.

TUESDAY — Feb. 18

Primary Election Early voting begins at Columbia County Annex, 101 Boundary Street at County Clerk’s Office, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

The Southwest Arkansas Workforce Development Board will meet on at 10 a.m., at Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, 101 Harvey Couch Boulevard in Magnolia.

Central Arkansas Development Council will distribute USDA Commodities in Columbia County in Waldo. Distribution will begin at 9 am. Food Items May Include: Applesauce, Dry Split Peas, Peanut Butter, Instant Milk, Raisins, Rice, Spaghetti Sauce, Beef Stew. In Columbia County, commodities will be distributed at the following location: C.W. Easter Center, 902 E. McKissack, Waldo, AR 71770.

SATURDAY — Feb. 22

Leadership Magnolia Class of 2020 is hosting a Texas Hold’Em Tournament, Casino Night, and Silent Auction at the Magnolia Arts Center. All proceeds will support our class project of updating and renovating the Boys and Girls Club game room. Entry for the Tournament is $75, and $25 for the gallery. All tickets include food and drinks. Doors will open at 5pm, and first hand dealt 6pm. Tickets will be on sale SOON!

SUNDAY — Feb. 23

The 16th Annual African-American History Celebration of Youth: Remembering Our Heritage is set for 2:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Center on the SAU campus. High school seniors from area school districts will speak. Special guest SAU young adult speaker, youth talent, refreshments and other fun. Admission is free. SATURDAY — MARCH 21

The Hope Evening Lions Club will be sponsoring the 4th Annual Jonquil Festival 5K Run/Walk. The race will begin at 7:30 am at the intersection of Hwy 195 and Hwy 278 at Historic Washington State Park. The event will be part of the festivities of the 52nd Annual Jonquil Festival. Entry cost is $25 per runner, which includes a T-shirt. Registration the day of the race will be $30. Proceeds from the run will go to support the Hope Evening Lions Club Scholarship Fund and Shakespeare in the Park put on by Historic Washington State Park.
