Claude D. Grissom, 78, of Prescott passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Prescott Manor, in Prescott.
On August 13, 1941 in Magnolia K.D and Ruie Lowe-Grissom were blessed with a baby boy they named Claude.
Claude was a gentle child and a joy to the family. He joined Mt. Superior Baptist Church at the age of 12 and was a faith member until his health failed.
He graduated from Walker High School in Magnolia. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for three years during Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge Claude returned home. He was employed at Pittman’s Nursery for a while and then he went to work at SMI Steel.
He married the late Eula Wright, and to this union one child was born.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and three brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories with one son; Eric Grissom, one sister; Dorothylyn (Felton) Foster, four sisters in law; Norma Cooper, Louise McCray, Gervie Grissom, and Patricia Grissom, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel, in Magnolia, at 2:30 p.m., with burial to follow at Kings Hill Cemetery, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home, LLC.
Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2020, from 12-4:00 p.m.
