REV. WILBUR CLEO PAUL
Graveside services for Rev. Wilbur Cleo Paul, 96 of Taylor, was held at 1 pm, Monday, December 7, 2020, at the Forest Grove Cemetery in Taylor, AR, with Bro. Randy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA. The family of Rev. Paul requests that face coverings be worn by guests during the service.
Rev. Paul was born on November 12, 1924 to Sam Paul and Mary Anderson in Vanceville, LA and passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 in Magnolia, AR. He was a veteran of the US Navy and worked at International Paper Company as a boiler room operator. Rev. Paul was licensed to preach in 1954 and was ordained at Shiloh Baptist Church in 1956. He pastored Landmark Baptist Church in Taylor, AR for 37 years, and Shiloh Baptist Church in Springhill, LA for 24 years. He enjoyed preaching and teaching the word of God, studying his Bible, hunting and trading firearms, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Thompson, and Sondra Rea and husband, Pat of Hampton, AR; son, David Paul of Camden, AR; daughter- in-law, Rennette Paul of Taylor, AR; three granddaughters, Traci Boyd, Kim Henry and husband, Sean, Jenna Paul; three grandsons, Michael (Christy) Thompson, John Paul (Erin) Rea, Cody Dulaney; three great-granddaughters, Cassidy Paul, Jaylyn Brazzel, Sadie Thompson; five great-grandsons, Tyler Holtzclaw, Wyatt Teague, Hilton Boyd, Sawyer Thompson, and Elliot Paul Rea.
Rev. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years,Verna Barnes Paul; his parents; brother-in-law, Neil Barnes; sisters-in-law, Francis Blanton and Lucy Mae Tipton; grandson in-law J.J. Brazzel, and a son-in-law, Ronnie Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Richard Thomas, Larry Parker, Pat Rea, Sean Henry, Michael Thompson, and John Paul Rea. Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Hamlin, Ronnie Thomas, Avril Redmon, Kevin Redmon and Tim Taylor.
The family of Rev. Paul would like to thank the staff of Greenhouse Cottages of Wentworth Place for all the loving care and devotion they gave to him. He truly felt at home there.
