Superintendent John Ward handed the awards to the recipients during the meeting. Before Ward could return to his seat, board member Mike Waters requested that he remain standing as he turned to address the crowd.

“I would like to share a letter I received,” Waters began.

“’Your Superintendent John Ward has been nominated to represent the State of Arkansas through the American Association of School Administrator’s Superintendent of the Year Program,’” he read

Waters continued reading the letter, which stated that the selection process for Arkansas’ 2020 Superintendent of the Year will take place over the next few weeks and that the individual selected will have the opportunity to represent Arkansas at the National Conference in February.

“’It is an honor to be nominated for this award and I want to make sure you’re aware that your superintendent is highly respected in this state,’” Waters read.
