Lake Columbia closes campgrounds, restrooms; water to remain open

The campground and public restrooms at Lake Columbia were closed, effective Tuesday morning. The move will be in effect “until further notice,” according to an announcement made by RDA Chairman Dan Gregory and Lake Manager John Ed Gunnels. The action was taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Current campers will be allowed to finish their stays, but no new campers will be accepted, the announcement said.

The park at Lake Columbia remains open, but will be with no restroom facilities. The lake also remains open to fishermen and boaters. Visitors are urged to follow social distancing. guidelines, according to Tuesday’s announcement.
