Velma Baucum, 93, of Emerson passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 22, 1926, in Dalton, Illinois, to the late Edward Riley Tipsword and Nellie LaPearl (Clark) Tipsword.
She was a LPN where she was an assistant supervising nurse in Illinois. She was an active member of Brister Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She loved gardening, mowing, and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband William Glenn Baucum; three brothers, Dale, Edward Jr., and Wayne Tipsword; and two sisters, Ruby Langston and Erma Thompson;
Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Gary and Joy Edwards of Altamont, Illinois, Steve and Janet Taylor of Magnolia, Mark and Becky Taylor of Parkers Chapel; two daughters, Debra and Mike Shelton of Atlanta, Texas, Rebecca Munn of Emerson; seven granddaughters, Tamara and Steve Duagherty of Altamont, Lori and Keven Schaal of San Antonio, Tabitha and Reese Lewis of Waldo, Kristie and Chris Dews of Magnolia, Sarah Taylor of Parkers Chapel, Jessica Taylor of Magnolia, Peggy and Bubba Clark of Queen City; five grandsons, Will Taylor of Magnolia, Sean Jones of Cincinnati, Christopher Taylor of Parkers Chapel, Michael and Christy Shelton of Nacogdoches, and Justin Jones of Emerson; 15 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Jessica and Samantha Green and Encompass Health for the care given to our family.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Brister Baptist Church with Bro. Eric Goble and Jeremy Langley officiating. Burial will follow at New Ramah Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family was Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were be Allen Nations, Reese Lewis, Richard Shelton, Mike Shelton, Chris Dews, and Shawn Dooly. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Leveritt, Paul Duhon, Will Taylor, Christopher Taylor, and Heath Lewis.
