SUNDAY - Dec. 8

Santa on the Patio, 2-4 p.m. at Mule Kick. Find out all the things your children want that you’ve never heard before. Take as many pictures as you want while Junior is on Santa’s lap. Free chocolate chip cookies with purchase of hot chocolate. Donations will also be taken to help purchase Christmas gifts for local children from the Angel Tree located in SAU Housing.

MONDAY - Dec. 9

Columbia County Quorum Court will meet for its regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. at the Columbia County Courthouse in Magnolia.

TUESDAY - Dec. 10

Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, Inc. One Stop Operator will host a partner meeting on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at 101 Harvey Couch Blvd. in Magnolia.

Magnolia Specialized Services presents: “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” from 11:30 a.m.-noon at Wes Weiser Gym, 1616 N. Vine, Magnolia.

The regular monthly meeting of the southwest Arkansas bluegrass association will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December, 10, 2019, in the fellowship hall of the Bethel church, 131 Bethel road in magnolia, Arkansas. Pickers, singers, and listeners of acoustic bluegrass music are most welcome to come and participate. There is no admission charge. For more information, call 870-904-2817.

WEDNESDAY - Dec. 11

The Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., at SWAPDD Inc., 101 Harvey Couch Boulevard, Magnolia, Arkansas. The Executive Committee, will meet at 9:00 a.m.

The Union County Hot Check program Hot Check Office at 307 American Rd., room 113, El Dorado, will be closing to process end of year. The last day the office will be open to the public will be De. 11, and it will re-open Jan. 2, 2020. You can still make payments by mail or in the drop box at the Hot Check Office.

THURSDAY - Dec. 12

Jingle and Mingle presented by Magnolia downtown Merchants, 5-8 p.m. at participating square stores.

A Very Grinchmas Block Party, 5-7 p.m. on southwest side of the square, random prizes every 30 minutes; 5 p.m. hot chocolate and green treats at Southern Roots table, 5-7 p.m. Candid visit with the Grinch and his favorite elf in 2C framing and crafty creations (bring camera for candid pics), 6 p.m. - Ugly Sweater Contest at Rockin K (winner gets $25 gift certificate), 6:30 p.m. — story time with the Grinch at Java Primo.

FRIDAY - Dec. 13

Southern Arkansas University Board of Trustees will meet Friday, Dec. 13 at 8:30 a.m. at 100 E. University, MSC 9392. The agenda includes SAU and SAU Tech program changes.

SATURDAY - Dec. 14

Magnolia Downtown Merchants Secret Santa at participating Magnolia square stores, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A secret Santa will be spreading the Christmas cheer on the square by handing out gift cards of $25+ from participating stores.

Santa Claus is coming to McNeil, Santa will be riding around delivering gifts to all the children in McNeil in a fire truck.

WEDNESDAY - Dec. 25

A Christmas meal will be held in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Parish hall, from 11 am to 1 pm. The meal is open to all who need a place to go for the holiday or need a little extra help providing for their family. Take out plates will be allowed, two per person. The meal is being sponsored by six families of the community as a way to teach their children that giving is far better than receiving.
