Former Magnolia High School graduate, Erica Barnett, will soon be graduating from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. Commencement exercises will be May 30 where Erica will graduate with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Ms. Barnett is a 2015 graduate of MHS. While in high school, she was a member of the Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Platinum Club, AP Placement High Scorers, and was President of the Student Council.
Upon graduating from MHS, she entered the Air Force with a major in Foreign Area Studies – Russian Political Science. Her minor was in Russian Language. She has also had the privilege of visiting seven foreign countries while in the Air Force.
Erica’s next career step with the Air Force will be to enter the Harvard Medical School in August. She will be assigned to the Air Force Reserves while in medical school. When Ms. Barnett completes medical school, she will graduate as an active duty Captain in the Air Force. Erica will then owe nine years of active service to the Air Force, but she is planning to make it a career.
Erica hopes to one day to use her medical and foreign language degrees to be an International Health Specialist assigned to Europe.
Erica is the daughter of Dr. Matt and Corey Barnett.
