EDDIE B. GODBOLT

Deacon Eddie B. Godbolt, 87, of Magnolia, AR, passed away Thursday May 9, 2019, at Wentworth Health & Rehab in Magnolia, AR. He was born April 17, 1932, to the late Johnnie and Ella D. Godbolt in Buckner, AR.

He started working at an early age. He spent his life working with pulpwood until his health failed him. He worked as a deacon for many years at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willisville, Arkansas. He decided to go back to his home church, Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, where he remained until his health declined.

Deacon Godbolt married the love of his life, Beatrice Cornelius, on July 8, 1950. They shared this union for 68.5 years. To this union, six children were born.

He loved the Lord and was faithful to his church family. He served on the deacon board for over 30 years. He was known for being able to lead an inspirational devotional hymn and sing in the choir.

Deacon Godbolt is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Eddie, Jr. and Johnny; and daughter, Dalphene.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beatrice Godbolt of Magnolia; sons, Ivory (Shelia) Godbolt, Sr. of Buckner and Ricky (Barbara) Godbolt of Maryland; daughter, Kathy (Ollie) Dixon of Rosston; 13 grandchildren, Marcus Dixon, Ann (Anthony) Robinson, Cedric Dixon, Jonathan (Brittney) Godbolt, LaKelya Godbolt, LaChelya (Patrick) Nolen, Ivory (Kay) Godbolt Jr., Cory (Erica) Godbolt, Candice Godbolt, Marcus Godbolt; three step-grandchildren, Royce Norton, Terry Fields, and Felicia Miller; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday May 18th at 2:00 pm at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia, AR, with burial to follow at Kendricks Chapel in Willisville, AR, under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home LLC of Magnolia, AR.

Visitation will be Friday May 17th at the funeral home from 12- 4:30 pm
