SAU athletes competed at West Texas A&M in a “Last Chance” meet in order to improve provisional qualifying times for the national championships, set for May 23-25 in Kingsville, Texas.

The men’s 4x400m relay team of Shonquil Atkins, Tyrezno Banks, Ka’Ronce Higgins and Addison Ross improved its provisional time, clocking in at 3:11.63. The relay team stays ranked 21st in Division II. Wesley Franklin reached a season-best time in the 400m hurdles, with a time of 53.12 seconds, 41st in Division II.

On the women’s side, T’Keyah Crockett threw a season-high in the discus with a throw of 47.94 meters, 27th in Division II.

Courtney Williams was unable to best her season-high in the high jump of 1.71 meters, only reaching 1.69 meters. The 1.71-meter mark sees her in a four-way tie for 23rd in Division II.
