The Southern Arkansas golf team will have a little time off to prepare for the two-day Natural State Classic on April 8-9 in Heber Springs. The classic will be hosted by Harding University and it will be SAU’s final regular season match of the season.

The Muleriders will then compete in the 2019 Great American Conference Golf Championships on April 14-16 at Hot Springs.

The golfers finished up their third tournament of the spring earlier this week by placing seventh at the 54-hole Broncho Invitational in Edmond, Okla. They shot a team score of 884, six strokes back of the tournament’s top five.

SAU defeated four teams ranked in the Top 50 of Golfstat’s Division II rankings. They included No. 49 Central Oklahoma, No. 17 Henderson State, No. 30 Central Missouri and No. 46 Southwestern Oklahoma State.

Individual highlights from the Broncho Invitational included Kade Johnson and Roman Timmerman, both finishing tied for eighth. Johnson and Calum Graham combined for 19 birdies, while Timmerman made par 34 times.

The team’s 884 was the seventh lowest 54-hole total in program history. Timmerman and Johnson’s 215 enter the program’s top 13 in individual low 54-hole total.

Following Timmerman and Johnson were Graham (219), Kevin Elder (236) and Kyle West (230).
