The Southern Arkansas University Lady Muleriders slipped to the No. 6 slot in this week’s NFCA Division II Coaches Poll.

The Lady Muleriders fell from the No. 1 spot, now held by Concordia Irvine, to sixth following last weekend’s effort in Weatherford, Okla., where they dropped three of four games to Southwestern Oklahoma State. They lost by scores of 8-7, 10-0 and 8-6, but claimed a 6-3 victory.

In this week’s poll, SAU received 308 points, just 15 points shy of fifth-ranked Chico State. The Lady Muleriders only sit seven points ahead of seventh-place Carson-Newman.

They are second in the Central Region, with Central Oklahoma overtaking them for first in the region and fourth overall in the rankings. The Bronchos jumped from eighth to fourth and received two first-place votes.

Augustana, ranked 18th overall, came in third in the regional rankings and Winona State, 25th overall, is fourth.

The Lady Muleriders are in action Friday and Saturday in Ada, Okla., against East Central University in a four-game Great American Conference series. Friday’s doubleheader starts at 2 p.m., followed by Saturday’s twinbill at noon.
