2 juveniles shot by shotgun yielding assailant on Little Rock's south side, police say

An assailant with a shotgun wounded two juveniles Monday evening after pointing a gun and shooting at a group of people outside a Little Rock apartment near Interstate 30, police said.

Little Rock police officers found two children suffering from apparent gun wounds after responding around 6 p.m. in the 8700 block of an I-30 service road, according to the police report.

Police said they found one of the juveniles lying between buildings with injuries to his left side and another child at a nearby church with a gun wound to his foot.

Several witnesses told investigators the shooter had a camouflage shotgun and came around a building, pointed the gun into a crowd of people and began firing “for an unknown reason,” the report said.

One of the victims told police he had gotten into a fight with another person earlier but said he didn’t recognize the shooter, police said.

Medical crews brought the two victims, whose ages weren’t listed in the report, to hospitals for treatment. Their conditions weren’t immediately known Tuesday morning.

Police have made no arrests at the time of the report.
