Panthers fall 9-5 in baseball

HOT SPRINGS - Magnolia and Hot Springs Lakeside met in nonconference action on the baseball diamond Thursday and the Rams won 9-5. They scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 5-4 Panther lead. Garrett Clark led Magnolia at the plate with three hits. Kevin Zhao, Dayton Dickson, Adam Pieratt and Eli Fields had one hit each. Connor Harrington, Zhao, Pieratt, Halen Sanders and Fields drew walks. Harrington (1-1) took to loss on the mound. Coach Bobby Beeson’s Panthers (3-1) are scheduled to play their first 4A Region 8 Conference game of the season on Monday in Monticello against the Billies, and play their first home game Tuesday against Genoa Central.
