FRIDAY - June 28

The Emerson Fire Department is hosting the Third Annual Purple Hull Pea Festival Fish Fry from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Emerson Fire Department. Tickets are $10.00. Carry out or dine-in. Walk-ins are welcome. Proceeds will be used to purchase turn-out gear. Tickets are available from any Emerson firefighter or at Emerson City Hall. For tickets or more information, call Bro. The Emerson PurpleHull Pea Festival & World Championship Rotary Tiller Race will be held. Pea Festival “Pea-Shirt” is now available for purchase in Emerson at Emerson Food Mart, Diann’s Hair Affair, the Emerson Farmers Market (held Thursdays beginning at 3:00 p.m.), and the Emerson Community Center. In Magnolia they may be obtained at Farmers Bank & Trust, Peoples Bank and BancorpSouth. Prices for the Pea-Shirts are $15 for children’s sizes through adult XL, and $17 for adult 2X and 3X.

The Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training will hold its regular scheduled meeting at 10 a.m. at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in East Camden.

The Magnolia and Columbia County Literacy Council presents the First Annual Adult Spelling Bee at Central Hub, 104 N. Washington Street, Magnolia, AR 71753. There are cash prizes for first, second, and third place as well as team spirit.
