SATURDAY - Aug. 3

A poker run and silent auction for CCAPS (Columbia County Animal Protection Society will be held at the American Legion Post No. 3 at 325 Legion Dr. Registration from 8-9:30 a.m. and fee is $20 per rider and $5 for passenger. Philadelphia United Methodist Church will hold all-u-can-eat fish fry , 4:30-7:30 p.m. Adults are $14 and children 12 or under are $5. Meals incluse fish all the trimmings, dessert, and drink. Take out available.

The church is located on Burnt Bridge Road (Columbia 15). All are welcome.

TUESDAY - Aug. 6

SAU’s Mulerider Club Kickoff sixth annual set for 6 p.m. at the Story Barn. The annual event, which is sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust, will serve as the official start to the 2019-20 athletic year at SAU and will feature a sit-down dinner that will include burgers, chips and dessert, season previews provided by fall coaches, and a meet-and-greet session with various members of the SAU athletic department and Mulerider Club Advisory Board members. Coaches will speak and advance-only tickets are $15. Contact any Mulerider Club board member or call 235-4102. The Mulerider Club is the fundraising arm of the SAU athletic department.

WEDNESDAY - Aug. 7

The next HEALTH Coalition meeting will be Wednesday, August 7th at noon in the conference room at the Department of Human Services, 601 E University St.

Luther Allgood, RN, will be our guest speaker. He is a hospice nurse and recently had his first book published and distributed. He will speak on the experiences that led to him writing this book, read a portion from it, and answer questions.

TUESDAY - Aug. 13

The regular monthly meeting of the Southwest Arkansas Bluegrass Association will be held at 7 p.m. at the Bethel Fellowship Hall of Bethel Church, 131 Bethel Road in Magnolia.

Pickers, singers, and listeners of acoustic bluegrass music are

most welcome to come and participate.

THURSDAY - Aug. 15

The Magnolia Quarterback Club will host a steak supper fundraiser from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Bus Barn. Tickets are $20 each and are available at local banks or Jennifer’s on the Magnolia Square. It will be drive-through only and meal will include rib-eye steak, potatoes, green beans and roll. Also, memberships to the Quarterback Club are available for $25 (family) or $50 (businesses). Funds help support athletes in 7th through 12th grade.

FRIDAY - Aug. 16

Murphy Arts District is excited to announce a performance by Jonathan Erlandson on the Griffin Restaurant cabaret stage in the Murphy Arts District. Tickets go on sale for MAD members on Monday, July 15, and to the public on Wednesday, July 17 at 10 a.m. Prices range from $15 to $25 each. ($25 for a Reserved Seat and $15 for general Admission seats. The tickets increase by $5 on the day of show.) The Magnolia and Columbia County Literacy Council presents the First Annual Adult Spelling Bee at Central Hub, 104 N. Washington Street, Magnolia, AR 71753. There are cash prizes for first, second, and third place as well as team spirit.
