JANIE S. HAYES EVANS

Janie Sue Hayes Evans, one day short of 94 years, of Emerson, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019. She was born January 20, 1925, to Isaac Clarence and Carrie Irene Souter Hayes of Macedonia, AR. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elton Austin Evans, and two brothers. Left to cherish her memory are four daughters: Judy (Larry Joe) Strickland of Dardenelle, Paula (Quinton) Hornsby of Lonoke, LaVeda (Joe) Ward of Emerson, and Ginger (Lester) Jackson of Stockdale, Texas, seven grandchildren: Tracy Strickland Guiltner, Chad (Nancy) Hornsby , Kristel (John) Petrus, Shea (Brandon) Wilson, Misty (Dallas) Stevens, Joe (Courtney) Ward, and Jordan Jackson, and ten great grandchildren: Trevor Guiltner, Chad Bo Hornsby, Hannah Thornton, Brenton Holland Ward, Madison Ward, Luke, Lawson, and Ella Petrus and Greenlee and Thatcher Wilson.

Janie was a former member of Woodberry Baptist Church and current member of Brister Baptist Church. She enjoyed the youth Christmas caroling every year and the Christmas baskets she always received. Her family was a big part of her life; she loved the family Christmas because everyone would be there. Her favorite past times were reading, watching Fox News to keep up with current politics, and watching football and basketball. She left her daughters many beautiful hand-made quilts as well as many crocheted items.

Visitation will be January 26, 1 p.m., Brister Baptist Church, Emerson followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Burial at Evans Cemetery near Bearden. The family would like to thank Wanda Mooreland, Sue Smith, and her many other caregivers for allowing her to live independently at home.
