‘Date night’ inside W.T. Watson Center

Free admission to games

Southern Arkansas University’s sixth-annual Community Night is being referred to as “Date Night” (Valentine’s Day) inside the W.T. Watson Center.

Tonight’s admission is free to the general public for both GAC basketball games against rival Arkansas-Monticello.

“Date Night at W.T.” will feature a Valentine’s Day theme, which will include members of SAU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee passing out candy and flowers.

In addition, there will be special opportunities throughout the night (both games) for couples in attendance to win prizes, including a Weekend Giveaway courtesy of Mulerider Athletics.

This year’s event differs from those in years past which have honored specific groups of individuals that make a difference in the community.

The goal of this year’s theme is to give back to those families that faithfully support SAU men’s and women’s basketball programs.

“Community Night is a special event that we enjoy offering each basketball season, and with this year’s event falling on Valentine’s Day, we knew we wanted to give our loyal supporters, many of which are couples with families, an opportunity to enjoy a night out, while cheering on our men’s and women’s basketball teams,” remarked SAU Director of Athletics, Steve Browning. “The support of our community in general is always tremendous, and we have seen the relationship grow to a new level at our basketball games this season. The support has been reflected in the home-court advantage and atmosphere that they have created. We look forward to a great turnout!”

Tonight, the women’s game will tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 7:30 p.m.
